Artwork of the week: Hombre Banano

June 15, 2017

This week’s artist to follow is Italian street artist Blu. The pictured work is an incredible piece that he completed in Managua, Nicaragua in 2004 fondly dubbed “‘Hombre Banano" (Banana Man). It represents the ongoing fight in Nicaragua against big banana corporations, like Dole, who have long been accused of turning a blind eye to the damaging pesticides they impose on the environment, animals and their own workers. Unfortunately the huge 100 foot long piece has since disappeared but check out the complete work here.
