Did you know that our team spans across five continents and six different countries? The spread of the Casa Congo movement continued last week with our launch in London, the headquarters of our Finance and Operations Director Tommaso Bellelli.
Taking place at a community house in Shoredictch, the event included friends, supporters and even some people from people who wandered in from the street – we’re all about inclusivity at Casa Congo.
Our guests of honour were the Bamboo Bicycle Club. These guys will be providing sustainable, bamboo technology bikes to our Astillero movement, and sharing their knowledge and skills on the ground in a series of workshops in Nicaragua next summer. We couldn’t be happier to have them involved.
Not forgetting our core pillar of creativity, and in keeping with our pillar of community the launch also included a live painting session in which any attendee could participate. The acrylic piece pictured above was painted throughout the night by anyone who wanted to get involved, and the end result was a beautiful work inspired by freedom, inclusion, and the colours of the ocean meeting the sea. It will be shipped to Casa Congo in time for our first round of art programs in July.
Founder Tommaso presented the project for this summer and explained the values of the Casa Congo movement, (which you can find here if you would like to know more). It was amazing to create a space for open discussion and get some positive feedback from the London community.
Thanks everyone who came, it’s great to see the Casa Congo movement spreading across the world. Stay tuned for more global news.
