Word from our co-Founder: Bringing sustainable tourism to Astillero

January 30, 2018

This year, Casa Congo will offer sustainable tourism experiences through conservation camps and special workshops focused on bamboo construction, surf, wellbeing, art and more. These are unique opportunities to learn, whilst giving back and living in a unique part of the world.

Sustainable tourism is is more than a holiday, it is an experience in which you give back to the land you are visiting; contributing to either community development or conservation. It encompasses a new trend of responsible tourism, where travellers are making informed decisions and planning trips that support the communities they are visiting. When volunteering, it is critical that travellers choose a volunteer organisation or non-for profit organisation with a proven ethos and philosophy around sustainable and responsible tourism practices.

Casa Congo is a young and international team with a local mindset, where everyone brings a different set of skills to the table. We are proud to be facilitating responsible volunteer programs in Nicaragua, providing 24 hour guidance for volunteers and offering on-going support to communities in need. Inevitably, these operations cost money to run and this is where the visitor fees comes in.

Thanks to you, the Casa Congo movement will be able to support the costs of our yearly social and environmental impact programs, from which the community will directly benefit via retributions, equipments, training, locally sourced products, food and more.

Come joins us down in Central America because“the world needs more people who care about the world”.
